These Made My Day!

My students are truly awesome!  Recently, I had my seventh graders write “ACTS” prayers.  We learn traditional “wrote” prayers, but I wanted them to learn to pray from their hearts as well.  The beautiful prayers that my students penned just melted my heart and filled me with joy.  I hope that they do the same for you.  Here’s a small sampling:   (A=Adoration, C=Contrition, T=Thanksgiving and S=Supplication.)

Dear God,  You are my loving God and will always be.  Please forgive me for sinning and disrespecting You in any way, my dear God.  I am very thankful for everything I have been blessed with – most importantly – my health and my family.  I ask of You, Oh Lord, to please help get our soldiers home safely.  Amen.   (boy)

God, You are significantly awesome for all that You have done for me and for the world.  I am very sorry for all my sins and for not always putting You first in my life.  Thank You for my family and everything You have blessed me with.  Please be with me and my family in times of hardship and in the loss of loved ones.  Amen. (girl)

Dear God, You have been forever merciful to me.  Forgive me for all the times I have sinned against You – especially when I have forgotten to say my prayers.  Thank You for blessing me in all that I do.  Continue to bless all of my efforts, especially in school.  In the name of Jesus, Amen. (boy)

Dear God, You are awesome in every way!  I love You, and always will love You.  Please forgive me for all of the times I have been unwilling to do Your will.  I thank You for the life You have given me and all of my friends and family.  Please give me the courage and strength to stand out and to do Your will.  Amen. (boy)

Dear God,  You are the greatest and most loving!  You even love those that have no faith in You.  Please forgive me for all the mean and hurtful things I have done.  Thank You so much for my friends, family and all the things I am lucky enough to have.  Please give me the strength to be a better person, and put You before anyone and anything in my life.  Amen. (girl)

Dear Lord, You are the King of Kings and the Lord Almighty, and I love You!  I am very sorry about what I have done to hurt You.  I thank You for all the things You have given me, especially my school, my family and my friends.  I would like to pray for my friends and family that they may be safe in Your arms.  Amen. (girl)

Dear Lord, You are amazing!  Please forgive me for all the sins I have committed at home and elsewhere.  Please forgive me for not being able to make it to church as often as I would like.  Thank You for all of the graces and blessings that You have given me, especially my family and my dogs.  Please Lord, help me to get to Mass on Sundays, and help me to be a kinder person.  Amen. (boy)

Dear Lord, You are the best!  Please forgive me for all of the things I have done which were hurtful to You and for all of the things I have not done that I should have done.  Thank You for blessing me with a loving family and great friends.  Please help all those here on earth – especially those in prison – to repent.  Help those in purgatory to eventually go to heaven.  Amen. (boy)

Almighty God,  You are our Savior – the one and only Creator!  Please forgive me for all the mistakes that I have made.  I am truly sorry for all the pain and suffering that I have caused You during my life.  Thank you for family, friends and a good life.  Please help all cancer patients and their families.  Please help our soldiers to return home safely.  I also pray for all of the people in the world who have lost loved ones.  Please keep us safe, and save us, Almighty Lord, from sin and temptation.  In Jesus’ Name we pray.  Amen.

Out of the mouths of teens and pre-teens! AMEN!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 17, 23 and 30. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
