Never Surrender?

images-1I was just looking at the WordPress writing prompt of the day – actually had never noticed it before – cool, useful feature – especially when one is experiencing writer’s block.  The world will tell you “Never Surrender.”  Surrender is giving in – it’s weakness, it cowardly…

In the world of faith, however, surrender is a good thing – a VERY good thing.  (I’m preaching to myself here!)  Trust in the Lord WITH ALL YOUR HEART and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)  It doesn’t make sense, and yet it make complete sense.

God is in control.  Any control we think we have is just an illusion.  Can’t we trust our lives, our problems, our future to the God who loves us perfectly?  I’m going through a particularly difficult time right now.  I’m at a place where I’m not sure which direction/path to take.  The restlessness and frustration with the current situation prompts me to redirect – but should I go left or right?  I’m praying for discernment of God’s Will, because – most assuredly – He knows what is best.

I quote the great John Paul II to my students all of the time, “BE NOT AFRAID.”  Let go!  Surrender your dreams, your troubles, your life to God’s designs.  He will not lead you astray.

This lent, I really want to work on Surrender – Even if I have to do it multiple times a day!Let Go and Let God, Dana!  Let go!!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
