Prayers for Unemployment

Dear Saint Joseph, you were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the necessities of life for Jesus and Mary. Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my anxiety over my present inability to support my family. Please help me to find gainful employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart and that I am soon able to provide for those whom God has entrusted to my care. Help us to guard against bitterness and discouragement, so that we may emerge from this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God. Amen.

Please keep my husband in prayer as he searches for a job – wherever God wants to use Him – may he discern God’s Will.  Thanks!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!

    Hello Dana,
I have followed your blog for a while and have found it so uplifting and encouraging – thank you!
I just wanted to let you know that my husband was unemployed for 17 months…we prayed this prayer asking for St. Joseph’s intercession all the time, and he was very faithful to us! God lead my husband to a teaching job in a different Catholic school and it is a much better situation/fit for him. We could never have imagined how God would use such a difficult and stressful time and bring so much good out of it for him. I will pray that you will see the same result for your husband.

    Dana,

We know what it’s like to be unemployed. Andy was made redundant a few years ago. Although we tried not to be anxious, it was a difficult time. God was certainly good to us. He had a new plan all worked out, a much better one than the old! I will pray that God will answer your prayers soon.

    God bless!

Beautiful prayer to St Joseph. Yes, there is a big temptation to be discouraged and bitter when hard times fall. Dear St Joseph, help Dana’s husband find good employment or a new source of livelihood, where he will be happy and have ample opportunities to apply his skills and values, and which will inspire others to do good and to trust God’s love.
