Two Topics to Discuss with Your Teen Daughters

Here are two articles that could be excellent springboards for discussion with your teens – particularly teen girls.  The first is about a model who stopped modeling lingerie for Victoria Secret because it didn’t “mesh with her Christian values.”  The second is a posting  regarding Nicki Minaj’s performance at the Grammy’s – an assault on our Catholic Faith.

There was something morally redeeming about the Grammy’s this year, however.  The host, rapper LL Cool J, when speaking about Whitney Houston’s death, said that he couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to the moment than to ask everyone to bow their heads in a moment of silent PRAYER.  He didn’t ask for a moment of silence – but a moment  of silent PRAYER.  It was awesome, as the cameras panned the audience to see most in attendance with their heads bowed.

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 7, 14 and 21. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!

  1. Thanks for the ideas. Well worth it. We need to remain alert to the positives as well as the negatives and share these with the young people in our lives.

  2. Sue Elvis says:

    Hi Dana,

Another model who refused to model immodest fashions, including lingerie, is Rachel Lee Carter. She has written a book called “Fashioned by Faith”. I bought a Kindle copy. Also good to share with teen daughters!

I am enjoying catching up with your posts.

    God bless!
