Special Feast Day

Today is the magnificent feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.  We celebrate and remember when, back in 1858, Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous, a French peasant girl in a grotto in Lourdes, France.  It was there in the grotto that she introduced herself to Bernadette as the “Immaculate Conception.”  It was there that she had Bernadette unearth a spring, digging with her bare hands – a spring that would unleash healing waters that God would use to heal many who visited Lourdes, and who still flock there today seeking physical and spiritual healing.

I don’t know about you, but I personally know so many people in need of physical, emotional and spiritual healing right now.  The prayer list can sometimes be overwhelming.  Today, let us entrust all those we love, in need of healing, to the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes:

Heavenly Father, through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes,  we entrust to you all those on our prayer lists who are in need of healing.  Grant them the kind of healing most beneficial to their bodies, minds and most importantly, their souls.  We trust your words Lord, when you said, “Ask and you shall receive.”  We believe that You hear and answer all of our prayers according to Your Fatherly wisdom and love. We place our suffering family members and friends in Your hands.  Please grant them strength, healing and peace.  Amen.

Here’s a beautiful picture of Bernadette’s incorrupt body, followed by a childhood picture of her.  Finally, a picture of the grotto where the apparitions took place in Lourdes

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
