Yesterday, our family abandoned our routine Saturday chores to spend the day in the sunshine. Here in Louisiana, we are experiencing our first cool front – perfect for celebrating all of the fun of autumn. The temperature at midday way a blissful 75 degrees – even sweeter in the shade! After researching our options, we decided to go to a local pumpkin patch. Our expectations were realistic – maybe even low; however, we were pleasantly surprised!
For only $7 a child and free admission for adults, our kids got to enjoy face painting, a petting zoo, horse tire swings, a zipline, a large bounce pillow, mini hay maze, a grassy hill to roll down and pumpkin shopping, of course. Each child went home with the pumpkin of their choice – all included in the bargain price of seven dollars. We were able to bring in our own sandwiches and drinks (something many places won’t let you do), and picnic. We invited the cousins along and had a fabulous family day. If only every weekend could be so refreshing for the body and soul! Below are some pictures of our little adventure at Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch in Hammond.

“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the LORD your God.’” Leviticus 23:22
