Feast of the Archangels

Today, we celebrated the feast of the Archangels at school with a special scripture reading, prayers and angel food cake (just for fun)!  Michael is known as the protector or defender.  Gabriel is the messenger who brings important news from God.  Raphael is the healer.  (We can learn a bit about him in the book of Tobit.)

Though it is not yet the feast of Guardian Angels (October 2nd), I love this passage from Matthew 18:10 which affirms the reality of our own personal angels:   “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”

“I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple
and give thanks to your name.”  Psalm 138: 1-2

Happy Feast of the Archangels!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
