How Much Do I Love the Beach?

The beach is how I picture Paradise to be – I’m counting on heaven to have the soothing sounds of the rolling waves and the cries of seagulls.  I hope it has the beautiful shades of blue and green that seem to be their most vibrant there.  The only other place that I love just as much is being beside a waterfall in the mountains.  Can you tell I love the water?

Each time we return from the beach, I long to bring a bit of it here at home with me, so I start “beachifying” my surroundings.  (I know that’s not a word.)  I will show you my cheap new beach- themed additions to our “beach cottage” (house).

I put the sailboat back on the mantlepiece.         I glued some sandollars to a vase, and placed a pretty shell on our kitchen table.    I glued some sea shells to a vase and to a basket.  The basket holds my seashell collection.  For about $10 in supplies, I stenciled seahorses to my plain navy blue comforter and bathroom valence.

How much do I love the beach?  “Too much,” you might say.  It’s my safe place – and a place where I feel God’s Mighty Presence everywhere I look!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!

  1. Fun! Your house must be like a perpetual vacation!

I live 3 blocks from the Gulf of Mexico and feel I am one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to retire here in Tarpon Springs, FL (Tampa Bay area). My favorite quote: “If you’re lucky enough to live at the beach, you ARE lucky enough.” Love your “beachifying” touches..
