Honoring Mary, Our Mother

A child’s faith is so pure, so open, so amazing.  When we were digging a hole in our backyard to plant a grape-vine, my husband unearthed an old beaded necklace.  I laid the necklace on our porch swing where my youngest discovered it today.  Immediately, he thought of making a necklace for Mother Mary.  He asked me to hook the broken links together.  Then he stooped down to place it around a statue of Mary and the Baby Jesus we have in our backyard.

We do have a few religious statues in our backyard.  I’m sure that this may trouble a few of my readers.  As Catholics, we don’t worship or pray to the statues.  They simply serve as visual reminders of our family and friends in heaven. I am so thankful for this extended family, as they come to my assistance and pray for me all of the time!

After my son had “decorated” the figurine, he looked up to heaven, and asked Mother Mary if the necklace had made her and Jesus happy.  I said, “Yes, son, I think you made them smile.”  It surely brought a smile to my face!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
