Plugged In

Last night, when I returned home from my uplifting book read class, I was greeted by a tough decision. (So much for peace and serenity! ) I was asked to take some young teens to see a PG13 movie on Friday night.  Dreading the unpopular decision I was likely going to have to make, I said a quick prayer,”God, give me the courage to be strong and do what You would have me do.”  Then, I turned to an invaluable resource on the internet:  This is a website and service of “Focus on the Family” that gives movie reviews.  I love this site, because it spells everything out for the discerning viewer.  First, it gives a synopsis.  It tells you the morally redeeming  qualities; then they tell you exactly what is morally offensive.  The site also tells you precisely which “curse words” are used and if the Lord’s name is taken in vain.

After elaborating on a few of the morally offensive elements of the movie, the teens decided that they didn’t want to see that movie after all.  Hooray for these very mature young ladies!  I’ve volunteered to take these girls to do/see something else tonight.  A girly Friday night!  Yeah! Wish me luck!

About danardoyle

I am a Catholic, working wife and mother. I have three children ages 10, 16 and 23. I am extremely busy, as you can imagine. I aim each and every day to put God first in my life, to teach my children the Faith, to be a supportive spouse, keep the house in order, and do my job outside of the home well, too. That's an impossible task - without Divine intervention! Here, I hope to share my triumphs and struggles with other working moms in the same boat. I will share the tools I have discovered to making it all work - most days!
